This article will explain how to connect your domain purchased from GoDaddy to your Heyflow. GoDaddy is an internet hosting provider from the US.
π If you haven't already connected your domain in Heyflow, start here.
Connecting a subdomain
Sign in to your GoDaddy Domain Portfolio and select an individual domain to access the Domain Settings page.
Select DNS to view your DNS records.
Select Add New Record and then select CNAME from the Type menu.
Enter the details for your new CNAME record subdomain:
Name: The hostname or prefix of the record, without the domain name such as blog or shop.
Value: flow.heyflow.domains.
TTL (Time to Live): The amount of time the server should cache information before refreshing. The default setting is 1 hour.
That's it. You can now return to Heyflow and complete your domain connection.
Connecting a root domain
GoDaddy does not allow you to set up a CNAME record on a root domain, e.g. heyflow-domain.com, only subdomains.
π‘ The solution: If you want to connect your root domain directly to a Heyflow, you have to set up a subdomain, e.g. www, and redirect your root domain to it.
Have a look here for more information on forwarding a domain on GoDaddy.
Select the checkbox next to the domains you'll be updating, in your case the root domain.
β
Select Forward from the action menu and enter the destination URL your domain will forward to. This is your connected subdomain, e.g. www.yourdomain.com.
Choose the forwarding type: Permanent (301) and select Continue to save your forwarding settings.
