The LinkedIn Pixel (Insight Tag), just like the TikTok Pixel or Meta Pixel, lets you collect data that helps to track conversions from LinkedIn ads. Also, it helps to build targeted audiences for future ads and remarket to audiences that have already taken some kind of action in your heyflow.
With our LinkedIn Pixel integration, you automatically track page visits and the submit event. Find out how to set up the integration in this article.
Process
(scroll down for detailed instructions with screenshots 👇)
Access the LinkedIn Campaign Manager (create an account if you don't have one yet)
Go to the “Analyze” tab and select “Conversion Tracking” and click on "Create Conversion"
Select "View Content" as your primary conversion event, give it a name and adjust the settings before clicking "Next step"
Connect your conversion event to a campaign (or skip this step)
Go to the “Event-Specific Pixel” tab, here you'll find a code snippet including the Conversion ID: paste it into your heyflow
Create another conversion for the Submit Event, this time select "Submit Application" as primary event; then paste the second Conversion ID into your heyflow
In the left-side navigation panel go to "Insight tag" and click "I will install the tag myself" which will reveal a code snippet that we can extract the Partner ID from.
Go back to Heyflow to paste the Partner ID, finalize the setup and republish your flow
Setup
Access LinkedIn Campaign Manager and create an account.
This should take no longer than 3 minutes.
Once you've created an account, you will see the LinkedIn Campaign Manager Dashboard.
Go to the "Analyze" tab and select "Conversion tracking"
After the account creation, you will be prompted to create a new campaign. As this is not crucial for the connection with your heyflow, you can simply click on the back button in the upper left corner.
In the left-side navigation panel, click on “Analyze”. Then choose “Conversion Tracking” and "Insight Tag Conversion".
Create your first conversion event
Click on "Create Conversion". Choose a name and select "View Content" as your primary conversion event. Then you can adjust settings as needed before clicking on "Next step".
In the next window, navigate to "Manual conversion setup" and click on "Event-Specific Pixel". Here you'll find a code snippet which includes the Conversion ID.
Copy the Conversion ID, go back to your heyflow and paste it into the "Screen View Conversion ID" section.
In the third window, you can connect your conversion with a campaign (or skip this step), then click on "Next step". You can always create and connect a campaign at a later stage.
Return to LinkedIn and click on "Create" to finalize the first conversion event.
Create your second conversion event
Now we can go through the same process again to create the conversion for the Submit Event.
Click on "Create Conversion" and "Insight Tag conversion" to get started.
Select "Submit Application" as your primary conversion event, give it a name and continue the setup as per the last step.
In the "Event-Specific Pixel" tab, extract the second Conversion ID.
Copy the ID, go back to your heyflow and paste it under the "Submit Event Conversion ID" section.
Extract the LinkedIn Partner ID
In the left-side navigation panel, go to "Insight Tag".
Click on “I will install the tag myself” which will reveal a code snippet that we can extract the Partner ID from.
Copy the partner ID, paste it it into your heyflow and click "Connect". Don't forget to republish your flow afterwards!
Your setup is now completed!
You can now do a quick run-through of your heyflow to make sure the events are tracked in the LinkedIn Campaign Manager.
❗ Note: It can take up to 5 minutes for the first event to land in LinkedIn.
Once you see a green dot next to the conversion, together with the time of the last signal received, you know that your LinkedIn Pixel is connected correctly and that the events safely arrive in LinkedIn!
Congratulations! You have connected your pixel to your heyflow and can start launching LinkedIn ad campaigns!
Troubleshooting
I don't see any events
In case a user has declined the tracking cookies, the pixel will not work. Make sure you accept the cookies to see your test events.
💡 Tip: Use the LinkedIn Pixel Helper. This is a plugin that checks websites for installed LinkedIn Insight Tags and inspects the correct implementation.
